Green gas contractions rised to record levels in 2018-19

Global greenhouse gas concentrations rising to record levels in 2018-2019, the chief economist of World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) has told to United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

"Global average greenhouse gas concentrations of CO2 (carbon dioxide) reached 405.5 parts per million in 2017 and continue to rise to record levels in 2018-2019," said by Professor Pavel Kabat as per external Media.

In past, the earth experienced the same type of concentration of CO2 3 million to 5 million years ago, when the temperature was 2-3°C warmer and sea level was 10-20 meters more than now.

The earth is experiencing a record level of increasing the temperature in the last 4 years. The global average temperature is nearly 1 degree Celcius above the pre-industrial era, said Kabat in the WMO s briefing to the Security Council. Research conducted by the WMO and its partner scientists shows that sea level rise is accelerating, as a result of melting of polar ice sheets, posing an increasingly existential threat to small island developing countries. "It is increasingly regarded as a national security threat."

The shrinking of Arctic sea ice affects not just the local environment and indigenous peoples but also influences weather patterns in the world s populated regions. Glacier melt continues unchecked, with short-term impacts including increased flooding and a long-term threat to water supplies for many countries. The temperature of the ocean is also increasing which is gonna create a long term threat to marine life, coral reef.
