First MLA ticket to minority women

Amaravati, January 23: The ruling Telugu Desam Party keen interest on giving opportunities to all caste leaders in the Assembly and Parliament elections, in this regard the first MLA seat was allocated to Shabana, an NRI minority woman leader.

Shabana will contest from Vijayawada West segment. The sitting MLA Jaleel Khan was stepped aside citing health reasons, he recommended his daughter Shabana s name and Chandrababu gave his immediate nod for the request.

TDP planning to allocate more seats to minorities and backward castes. Naidu also decided to allocate Guntur 1 segment ticket to the Muslim minority. If there are no strong local leaders, there is a fair chance that comedian Ali may be given this opportunity. Ali has already met and asked Naidu to give him MLC or MLA ticket.


Naidu has already begun the process of announcing party candidates in different segments where there are no rivalries among local leaders for the tickets. Shabana has started her campaigning in Vijayawada West along with her father and her followers.

The TDP decided to follow KCR’s strategy of allowing candidates to make several rounds of campaigning in their segments to improve their winning chances.
