DMK leader says Tamil Nadu wants Rahul Gandhi as PM

New Delhi, January 21: MK Stalin, Karunanidhi s son has made sensational news by saying Rahul Gandhi as a prime ministerial candidate for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections on Sunday, also said that there was nothing wrong with the suggestion as he was merely expressing the wishes of the people of Tamil Nady.

Stalin participated in a rally in Chennai, he said, "Yes, I did propose the name of Rahul Gandhi as the next PM candidate in the DMK rally. What is wrong with it? It was the wishes of the people of Tamil Nadu, but in West Bengal, they have decided to finalize this after the election. It is their wish."

Stalin also fired on media for finding fault with him for not reiterating his prime ministerial endorsement at the recent United Opposition rally in Kolkata.

"When I made the suggestion at the DMK meeting the media repeatedly asked me why I had done it. Yesterday, when I addressed a rally in West Bengal and did not take Rahul s name in the rally, the same media asks me why I did not," Stalin said.

"The next (Lok Sabha) elections will be the second fight for Independence. We will stop this poison of Hindutva and radical Hinduism from spreading. Our call is to defeat Modi and save the country," he said at the Brigade Parade Grounds in Kolkata.

Criticizing the central government, Stalin accused it of working for corporate houses. "If Modi is back in power, the country will go back 50 years," he said.
