Pocharam Srinivas Reddy unanimously elected as Telangana assembly speaker

Hyderabad, January 18: Here is the breaking news that, TRS leader and Banswada MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy unanimously elected as speaker of Telangana assembly. KCR who proposed Reddy as the speaker of assembly has held talks with the opposition parties to elect Srinivas Reddy unanimously following which no leader has filed the nomination papers for the speaker post.

From this aspect, Protem speaker Mumtaz Ahmed Khan began the election process and announced that Pocharam Srinivas has won the election unanimously. KCR, TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy and others escorted Srinivas to the speaker s post.

Rao calls the 69-year-old Pocharam Srinivas Reddy ‘Lakshmi Putrudu’, because during his tenure as Agriculture Minister, Reddy had provided 24X7 free power supply to farmers, introduced Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bhima and others,

Reddy filed his nomination papers on Thursday afternoon. The Chief Minister was the first to propose his name for the post of Speaker, followed by Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka (Congress), Ahmed bin Abdullah Balala (MIM), Rekha Naik, VM Abraham and Talasani Srinivas Yadav (TRS).

Born on February 10, 1949 in Pocharam village of Banswada, Parige Srinivas Reddy graduated as an engineer and entered politics in 1976. He joined Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in 2011.

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, Congress leader Uttam Kumar Reddy, AIMIM MLA Ahmed Balala and TRS MLA E. Rajender conducted Srinivas Reddy to the chair.

Later Chandrashekhar Rao and leaders of other parties in their speeches congratulated him on becoming the Speaker of the second Assembly of the new state.

Srinivas Reddy, whose real name is Parige Srinivas Reddy, is popular as Pocharam Srinivas Reddy. Pocharam is the name of his native village in Kamareddy district.
