Sydney, January 12: Twitter reactions on Hitman Rohit Sharma’s 22nd ODI century, Twitter was elated as the Indian vice-captain scored yet another ODI century.

Coming to more detailes, During the first ODI of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Sydney, India vice-captain and opening batsman Rohit Sharma registered his 22nd ODI century in the midst of a tough chase for India.After opening the batting with Shikhar Dhawan, Sharma was standstill at the non-striker’s end as three top-order wickets fell within a span of 18 balls. Having scored a mere three runs at that stage, India seemed in deep trouble in a 289-run chase.

It was at this time that Sharma stitched a 137-run partnership for the fourth wicket alongside former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni (51).

Sharma played a vital role in rescuing India from a spot of bother. Having scored 21-3 in the first powerplay, it was him who pressed the accelerator for the first time in the Indian innings.On the penultimate delivery of the 24th over, Sharma hit an unconvincing four off Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell to bring up his half-century. With him crossing the mark, the Indian fans started to believing in him leading this chase despite an ever-increasing run rate.

Sharma opened up in the real sense after his half-century, scoring a couple of boundaries off Jason Behrendorff and a six off Nathan Lyon in the 29th and 30th over respectively.

With India requiring 156 runs in 20 overs and Sharma in the middle, there were wide hopes of him sealing the chase for India. For someone who hits the big shots at will after he is well-set, even the run-rate appeared to look achievable.

On the penultimate delivery of the 40th over, Sharma ran a couple of runs off Jhye Richardson to bring up his 22nd ODI century, off 110 balls. With the match into its business end now, Sharma holds the key for India.
