Heavy Traffic Jam on HYD-Vijayawada highway

Hyderabad, January 12: As we know that Hyderabad is traffic Adda in normal days, we can t estimate during weekends and festival seasons in the city but highways were choked with vehicles since Friday evening, people starting to head to their native places in their personal vehicles for the Sankranti vacation, the city roads, especially major junctions, are witnessing bumper to bumper traffic.

The holidays for Sankranti start from Saturday, so Friday evening heavy traffic in the city and outskirts too, the people who are traveling in four-wheelers had to struggle to cross the city at Warangal and Vijayawada highways, especially in the night with the traffic density being double than that of regular days.

At Uppal Crossroads and LB Nagar crossroads, there was heavy traffic with vehicles lining up for more than a km in the evening while stretches in Kukatpally, Miyapur, Punjagutta Junction, Paradise, MGBS and other important roads also saw vehicles being stuck in the traffic for several minutes.


This is not only by personal vehicles but also with special buses are being operated to clear the festive rush from the city. This leads to increase the traffic in the Outer Ring Road too. Heavy traffic was witnessed on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada Highway.

Toll plazas en route to Warangal, Nalgonda, and Vijayawada witnessed vehicles making a beeline and were seen waiting for long distances, particularly near the toll plaza in Choutuppal Mandal in Yadadri-Bhongir district.

According to the authorities at these toll plazas, the flow of vehicles would further increase by midnight and it may further go up on Saturday early morning. Necessary arrangements have been made to clear the festive rush, officials said.
