Nageshwar Rao will be the lead of CBI

New Delhi, January 11: As we know that Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) Director was removed by a high-powered committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. M. Nageswara Rao, the Additional Director on Friday took charge of the office.

Verma was transferred to the office of director general fire services, home guards and civil defense on Thursday.

Rao was appointed as the interim director of CBI after the government’s intervention in the public spat between CBI director Alok Verma and special director Rakesh Asthana.


After which the 1986-batch IPS officer Rao, was made the interim director until any further orders.

A 2-1 decision by a selection committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with its other two members being the leader of Congress Mallikarjun Kharge and Supreme Court judge AK Sikri on Thursday decided to ease out Verma from the post of CBI Director.

The Selection Committee s decision was based on Central Vigilance Commission(CSC) s report said that there were some serious allegations against Verma and those required further investigation
