Hyderabad, January 10: As Panchayath elections are nearing in Telangana, the State Election Commission took a serious decision.

A was warning issued by the election commission of imposing one-year jail term for the people participating in panchayat post auction fell on deaf years. Elections which has to be won by voting is being selling for whooping prices in the state.



The sarpanch post of Gurrampode village in Nalgonda district was sold for Rs 63.03 village while it has been sold for Rs 16.50 lakh in Chamaledu and Rs 16.50 lakh in Mailavaram, it is learned.

The Nominations for first phase elections was completed on Wednesday. 4,480 panchayats and 39,832 wards are scheduled to be held on January 21.
