Food poison in KGBV, 67 students were hospitalised

Hyderabad, January 7: Approximately 67 schoolgirls from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya(KGBV) were admitted in Niloufer hospital and Fever hospital in Hyderabad on Sunday morning, there are around 206 girls residing in the residential school.

According to the information by Inspector Guruvaiah of the Chevella police, the fruit salad was served in the school around 4 PM on Saturday and at dinner time rice with capsicum curry, dal, and curd, at around 8 pm. After study hours, the girls went to bed.



Out of the 206 students studying in this school, 67 students complained of severe stomach ache and vomiting, following which they were rushed to Chevella Government Hospital, among the 67 students, 30 students were sent back after treatment and 37 were referred to Niloufer Hospital.

The Chevella police have registered a case under section 337 IPC (causing hurt by act imperiling life or personal safety of others) against the principal and cooks of the school based on complaints from parents, and further investigation is to begin.

District Medical and Health Officer of Ranga Reddy, KV Swarajya Lakshmi also addressed the media by stating that the food and water samples have already been collected and said that the sanitation condition at the hostel will be checked.
