Tremendous concrete work at Medigadda barrage

Hyderabad, January 7: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has visited the Lift Irrigation Projects recently. He was unsatisfied by the progress of work and strictly said that finish them soon.

In this regard, the Medigadda barrage which is part of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme turned to be continuous work and also set the all-time record. The Kaleshwaram Project Chief Engineer N Venkateswarlu informed Today that 90,055 cubic meters of Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) were laid on the Medigadda barrage spillway and its piers. One more day of work would take it into one lakh cubic meters, which is in the record itself.

Venkateshwarlu said 16,722 cubic meters of concrete pour was done on the first day. On an average, about 7,000-8,000 cubic meters of concrete pour was being done every day. He explained that over lakh cubic meters of concrete pour was yet to be done on the barrage, one of the six important works need to be completed by March 2019 to commission the project for giving water to the ayacut from next Kharif.

It may take less than a month to finish the concrete work “We are also awaiting observers of the Guinness Book of World Records. With a deployment of 5000 men and engineers on the work site, we have ample scope to break every record in the concrete laying history,” Venkateshwarlu asserted.
