India's Aggressive Cricketer Gautam Gambhir announces his Retirement

New Delhi, December 05: Here is the breaking news that, Veteran Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir decided to bid adieu to all forms of the game on Tuesday evening as he announced his retirement in an emotional video.

In this regard,Conceding that he has been questioning himself over the last couple of years and stretching his career by punishing the body even more, the time for him to call it quits has come.



β€œThe most difficult decisions are often taken with the heaviest of hearts. And with one heavy heart, I ve decided to make an announcement that I ve dreaded all my life,” Gambhir wrote.

The 37-year-old, in a video message on his social media pages, said the Ranji Trophy game against Andhra Pradesh starting Thursday will be his last competitive match.

The aggressive opener was India s top-scorer in the finals of the 2007 World T20 in South Africa and the 2011 ODI World Cup, both of which the country won.

Gautham Gambhir, who had some very fine seasons with Indian Premier League outfit Kolkata Knight Riders, got a special message from franchise co-owner Shah Rukh Khan as the retirement news broke out.

Having joined KKR in 2011, Gambhir famously led the team to two IPL titles – in 2012 and 2014 – while ending as the tournament s highest run-scorer in a total of three seasons before joining his home side Delhi Daredevils in 2018. Spending the majority of his IPL career with the Knight Riders, Gambhir presently is 4th in the list of top-scoring batsmen in the tournament with 4217 runs in 152 matches.
