Man duped of Rs 11 lakh by fake airport staffer

Hyderabad, Nov 25: Taking advantage of a man s dire need of money for his sister s marriage, a fraudster who introduced himself as an airport employee duped the victim stating that he would sell the gold seized during checks in the airport for a low price. The RGIA Shamshabad police have registered a cheating case and further investigation is underway.

According to the police the victim Md. Feroz Khan has been friends with M. Krishna Singh for two years. The accused introduced himself as an employee of Shamshabad airport and made the victim believe that he knows many customs officials.

Shamshabad sub-inspector of police S. Venkateshwarlu, said, “He deceived the victim stating that customs officials were going to sell the gold seized during checks at low prices. Since the victim needed gold for his sister’s marriage he agreed to buy it.”

Two weeks ago, the victim went to airport along with Md Jahangir and gave Rs 11.2 lakh to M. Krishna Singh, the accused.

"Following this, Krishna said that it would take time to give gold and gave an invoice letter to them. Two days later, he gave a releasing order and dispatch letter to the victim. However, when the victim waited for a few more days and did not get the gold, he suspected something suspicious and got to know that the accused was not an employee at the airport and he was duped," added the official.

The police have registered a case under Sections 406 and 420 of IPC.
