Cyclonic storm may hit AP

Visakhapatnam, Dec 6 : The observations and forecast by national, international meteorological and IMD departments are accurate. If so, AP is going to hit by a severe cyclonic storm with in one week. Pakistan suggested the name of the coming cyclonic storm as Vardah. The NWP (numerical weather prediction) of various departments felt that Vardah is likely to hit the centre of north coastal AP and south coastal AP in between 10 to 12th December. An European weather forecast meteorological centre has forecast that in between Krishna and Godavari districts the storm will make landfall on December 11.IMD said the storm may appear with marked low pressure over south Andaman Sea and joining southeast Bay of Bengal and it is expected to intensify into a depression and subsequently into a depression in deep."It is very early to say anything about the system. However, chances are high for the well-marked low pressure to upgrade into a cyclone. The present weather models suggest that the system is heading towards the AP coast, but we will get a clear picture in the next few days." says Nagarathnam, IMD director. The initial air pressure of a low pressure system at the ground or central or the eye level is 1,013 hPa, says scientists from the department of meteorology, Andhra University.
