Washington, MAY 28: A relief for Ph.D. Students. The US House of Representatives has introduced a new bill seeking the exemption for non-immigrants with a Ph.D. from American universities from the limitations on H-1B visas. The Bill is named as Stopping Trained America PhDs from Leaving the Economy (STAPLE) Act. Experts say that this bill would help the majority of Indians who are staying in the US.The main provision of the bill is the act seeks to amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to authorize foreigners who have earned a Ph.D. degree from the US in STEM subjects will be exempted from the limitations on H-1B non-immigrants and will be granted Permanent Residence in the country.The Bill was introduced by members Erik Paulsen, Mike Quigley. Finally, Indians are hoping that this bill would get passed so that they can stay in the US permanently.
