Govt to take strict action against illegal sand mining: Home Minister

Amaravati April 30: Home Minister N Chinarajappa stated that the government would take stringent action against the illegal sand mining in the State.While going to matter, Speaking to media reporters here at Secretariat, the Minister said that the State govt would strengthen border check posts with neighboring States to curb illegal mining.He also added that the govt was forced to implement the rules and regulations governing the sand mining and transportation in the State following the death of 15 members in a lorry accident in Chittoor district recently. The villagers were protesting against the government demanding action against the illegal sand mining.Sensing the heat from the public over the involvement of the ruling TDP leaders in the illegal sand mining at majority of the areas, the government initiated preventive measures. As part of it, the minister held a review meeting with the officials and constituted Mandal, District and State level committees with the Police, Revenue, Mining and Water Resources departments officials to curb the illegal sand mining and transportation in the State.
