P.V. Sindhu won the India Open

New Delhi, April 2: India s Olympic silver medallist P.V. Sindhu has defeated Spanish top seed Carolina Marin 21-19, 21-16 in the final of the India Open World Superseries badminton championships at the Siri Fort Sports Complex here on Sunday.The prize distribution ceremony going on. Vijay Goel gives the medals to Marin and Sindhu. The Spaniard tried hard, but today was the day of Sindhu. She looked much more focussed and in the zone right from the word go. Marin had an opening at 18-17 in the first game, but once she let it slip it was a Sindhu show altogether. In the second game, Sindhu dominated comfortably to finally win the game 21-16. This is the second superseries for PV Sindhu. A great achievement no doubt. Sindhu used her height to full advantage and as the commentator pointed out, she has improved her net game a lot which finally was Marin s undoing. Marin on her part looked a touch slow from her killer performance at the Rio Final. But the season has just started and don t count out the Spaniard. For Sindhu, this is hopefully the start of a glorious golden run of play.
