Vijayawada March 01: CPI leader K Narayana has demanded the police to arrest BJP activist Ronanki Vijaychandrudu, along with others, for manhandling a 65-year-old woman with iron rods. The woman reportedly complained to the GVMC against the construction of multi-storeyed building after encroaching upon the gedda near Birla Junction, Madhavadara.It may be noted that one Duvvuri Vijaya, 65, residing at the door No. 39-23-37/1, Vamsinagar complained to the GVMC against Ronanki Vijaychandrudu for illegal construction by encroaching upon the major gedda. Irked by the complaint, Ronanki Vijaychandrudu and his henchmen allegedly entered the house of Vijaya and roughed up her and her son. The neighbors who found Vijay in a pool of blood shifted her to the KGH from where she lodged a complaint against four persons to the Airport police. However, the police filed a case against only one person An Appanna and left the main accused and BJP activist scot free. The victim also reportedly complained to the Commissioner of Police and also to the BJP MLA P Vishnu Kumar Raju seeking justice but the main accused Ronanki was not arrested so far. Demanding the arrest of Ronanki, the victim Vijaya began the hunger strike at Birla Junction here on Friday.Meanwhile, the CPI National Secretary, who was passing through the NH on Friday, saw an old woman squatting near the NH with a banner demanding the arrest of BJP activist. Moved away with the pathetic condition of the woman, he came to her and asked the reason for her hunger strike. He immediately offered a drink asking her to end the fast assuring that he would speak to the Commissioner of Police and the Municipal Commissioner about the incident. He questioned the police if the accused belong to the BJP, shall they leave him scot free and demanded immediate action in this regard failing which the party will agitate.
