Hyderabad, March 16: Hyderabad city is trapped by many pollutions, we can simple call the city as Pollution full city , they are many pollutions in the city but one of the major pollution is sound pollution. This is one population explosion for which the city s think tank is yet to come up with any control measures. The number of wheels in Hyderabad is on an aggressive upward surge, with a staggering 1.5 lakh vehicles being added to the city s motor population in just two months, from December 31, 2016, to March 1, in the Greater Hyderabad limits.Officials believe another five lakh vehicles could be registered in the region by the end of this year. As of now, for about a crore population in the city, there are close to 50 lakh vehicles.Officials say these numbers are set to grow further in the coming days, which means, apart from the increasing air and sound pollution, the city roads are going to get choked further. Hyderabad has seen a steady increase in the number of vehicles being registered here, with the number going up from 38.57 lakh in December 2013 to 49.10 lakh in December 2016.According to Transport Department data, two-wheelers continue to dominate the city s roads (over 36 lakh), followed by cars (8 lakh). The number of lorries, tractors and other carrier vehicles stands at over 60,000. Close to 35 lakh citizens depend on the city buses of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), which operates nearly 42,000 trips a day.On the other side, with the advent of mobile app-based taxi services, the registration of cabs has also shot up. With more people preferring cabs over conventional auto-rickshaws, officials say there is a sharp increase in motor cab (MC) registration. From October 2014 to October 2015, 466 motor cabs were registered in the city. And then, creating a record of sorts, over 1,800 motor cabs were registered from October 2015 to December 2016.This is the highest number of taxis registered in one year in the city, said J Pandurang Naik, Joint Transport Commissioner, adding that nearly 1,089 new cabs were registered in January and February in the Hyderabad region. The total motor cab population in the city is now over 62,000.
