BJP elects new  Manipur CM

New Delhi March 13: The ruling party (BJP) Bharatiya Janata Party BJP on Monday announced the name of Nongthombam Biren Singh as its chief ministerial candidate for the state of Manipur.

As we knew that, Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh announced that he will tender his resignation on Tuesday evening.

"BJP's legislature party leader will be N Biren Singh we will soon move to stake claim to form the government, Union minister Piyush Goel told to the media



Nongthombam Biren Singh won from Heingang defeating Trinamool Congress' Pangeijam Saratchandra Singh.

In the just concluded election, the BJP got 36.3 per cent of valid votes while the Congress secured 35.1 per cent.
