AP wants to hike the data handling capacity of Aadhar

Visakhapatnam, March 11 : As we know that, Aadhar card has become an essential document (or) ID proof for any kind of business or firms.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) will soon increase its data handling capacity by four times to handle 400 million hits per day, said J Satyanarayana, part-time chairman of UIDAI.

Currently, it has two data centres at Bengaluru and Manesar and the current capacity is 100 million hits/enquiries for identity authentication a day. Now, there are about 20 million hits, he said.

With the push for electronic transactions post demonetisation, the scope for identity authentication is set to increase manyfold, he said in a video conference with the participants of Fintech event here.

The infrastructure for Aadhaar has been strengthened over the last six years and about 1.1 billion Aadhaar cards have been issued. The UIDAI uses about 7,000 servers in clusters at its data centres to reduce the time lag. However, it has been helped by the many open architecture ecosystem players, who are doing a lot of value addition, he said.

Use of blockchain technology is also high on Government's agenda. Since the implementation scale is big, it is studying the use cases in the segment. This emerging sector has few established use cases is a limiting factor as of now, he said.
