Indo-Japan workshops starts tomorrow

Hyderabad March 11: An institute in Hyderabad is conducting a workshop on education with the Japan university.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IITH), in collaboration with University of Tokyo, will conduct iSchool workshop, a cross-disciplinary educational programme from March 12 to 14 on its campus. It is the fifth in the series of successful Indo-Japan workshops on innovation.

The theme of the workshop this year is 'Human-centered Innovation on e-Health in India'. Sixteen students and seven faculty members each from IIT Hyderabad and University of Tokyo will be participating in the workshop to understand the structured approaches to innovation.

The participants who ideate in an internationally-collaborative environment will be able to innovate on ideas for e-health in India and understand the growing need and business opportunity for e-health. This will also help them in exchanging feedback from peers, fellow students and organisers on their innovation.

Welcoming the delegates who arrived here on Friday for the workshop, U.B. Desai, director, IIT Hyderabad, said: "IITH, since its inception in 2009, has encouraged innovation and entrepreneurship with research-led teaching. Many participants from previous versions of iSchool workshops are successfully practising structured innovation in their start-up venture."

iSchool is a cross-disciplinary educational programme established in the University of Tokyo. Headed by Hideyuki Horii, iSchool seeks to develop and provide human-centered innovation educational programmes in collaboration with educational, business and government entities such as Royal College of Art, Stanford Institute of Design (d.School), IDEO and Ziba.
