TTD to built new multi-purpose hall

Tirumala March 11: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) is planning to built a multi-purpose waiting halls for pilgrims to bring multi-requirement of devotees under one roof.

The TTD is all set to construct another multi-purpose waiting hall for the benefit ordinary pilgrims arriving at the temple town for the darshan of Lord Venkateswara.

At present, there are two multi-purpose waiting halls in addition to the two monolithic structures in the Vaikuntam queue complexes that can house about 30,000 pilgrims.

The increase in the footfalls in the last two decades has forced the temple administration to plan the multi-purpose waiting halls wherein the pilgrims can meet all their requirements like depositing of luggage, scanning of darshan tickets, purchasing of laddu tokens, etc., under a single roof. The number of pilgrims visiting the hill temple on an average has shot up to a staggering 70,000 from a mere 30,000 in the mid-nineties.

The proposed waiting hall (with Galvalume over-roof sheets) will be built in the open space in front of the second Vaikuntam queue complex.

The new hall which is projected to be built in an area of 17,562 sq.ft. will have provision for 12 luggage depositing counters, seven tea/cofee serving counters in addition to sixteen laddu token issuing counters besides nine cubicles for frisking the devotees.

It will also house the office room, help desk, store, electrical and cash rooms with a provision for purified drinking water.

The hall will be interconnected to the second Vaikuntam complex by a 2.7-metre corridor through which the devotees will be allowed for darshan.

The total cost involved in the construction of the project is estimated to be Rs. 5 crore.
