MP Kavitha: The more women, the more GDP

Hyderabad, March 7: The Young Women Social Entrepreneurship Development Programme (YWSEDP) has been conducted by Diageo in association with The British Council Monday, in the presence of the honorable Chief Guest, K Kavitha, Member of Parliament, and K Ratna Prabha, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka.

Sustainable solutions that could lead to economic growth were the need of the hour, said Nizamabad MP K Kavitha here on Monday.

"The country's GDP will go up if more women are employed," she quipped.



The programme provided entrepreneurship education by training women master trainers, and through them having training imparted to a larger group of women and help them become entrepreneurs.

On the conclusion of the programme, a critical mass of over 80 master trainers in different cities of the country cascaded training to over 4,300 beneficiaries thereby promoting social entrepreneurship amongst women, Mei-kwei Barker, Director, British Council, South India said.

The event also included a panel discussion on ‘Women Social Enterprise Ecosystem in India” with the participation of eminent panelists.
