5 booked during the Inter exam

Hyderabad March 4: Several impersonation cases have occurred during the intermediate examinations, each was booked from a centre in Hyderabad, Mahabubabad and Bhadradri-Kothagudem districts in the State.

This apart, five malpractice cases were also booked by the officials during the examination. The BIE said that police cases were booked against culprits who were involved in the impersonation.

The Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) has appealed the students to reach examination centre before 9 am for Intermediate Public Examination (IPE).

A Ashok, BIE Secretary, in a release on Friday said that in order to prevent high-tech malpractice and as part of anti-copying measure in IPE, one-minute late rule was introduced in IPE in March, 2014.

The practice of not allowing after 9.00 am was to ensure fairness of exams and eliminate any malpractice using technology.

"Even on the hall tickets, students were instructed to take their seats in the examination hall by 8.30 am and candidates reaching after 8.45 am will not be allowed into the examination hall," he said.

He further said that at present, the BIE is giving a grace time of 15 minutes to the candidates i.e., upto 9 am, to enter the examination center in addition to the actual time to occupy the seats i.e., 8.45 am.

"Between 8.45 am and 9 am, students have to enter particulars of the answer script on the OMR sheet and attendance sheets. I appeal to the candidates to reach the exam center before 9 am," he said.

A total of 5,17,876 candidates were registered for both general and vocational courses and of which 4,89,999 had appeared for the examination. About 27,877 candidates did not appear for the examination.
