Handloom workers will get pensions

Vijayawada, February 16: Andhra Pradesh Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said that 25,000 more pensions will be given to handloom workers in the state soon.

He directed the officials to prepare proposals to establish handloom clusters in the state where the workers can make their products.

Speaking at a review meeting on handlooms at his residence in Undavalli on Wednesday, CM Naidu said that the government is committed to the welfare of handloom societies and workers in the state. "At present, 75,000 pensions are being given to handloom workers and 25,000 more will be given soon.

The clusters are being established as the health of handloom workers is being affected due to their work on the with handlooms at home," he added.

Naidu also directed the officials to prepare proposals for constituting a handloom advisory board to facilitate effective services.
