Punjab February 04: Voting in Punjab and Goa has been began on Saturday morning for the 2017 Assembly elections.

Voting for 40 seats in Goa began at 7.00 am and Punjab, which has 117 assembly seats, an hour later. Till 3 pm, 67% had cast their vote in Goa and 48% in Punjab

Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is contesting for the first time in both the states.

This is the first big electoral test for the ruling BJP since November's notes ban.

The counting of votes for all five states will begin on March 11.

The voting to be held for Uttar Pradesh, Manipur and Uttarakhand which are being held simultaneously in the months of February and March.

Moderate to long queues were seen outside many of the 22,614 polling stations across Punjab.

In 2012, Punjab witnessed 78.57 per cent polling in the assembly polls.
