Hyderabad January 19: Celebrities of Telugu states had paid tribute to TDP founder and former Chief Minister of AP, N.T. Rama Rao on his 21st death anniversary on Wednesday.
N.Harikrishna, N.Balakrishna, grandsons Jr. NTR, Kalyanram and other family members and leaders of TDP Party paid floral tributes at NTR Ghat in Hyderabad.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu's wife Nara Bhuvaneswari and his daughter-in-law Nara Brahmani inaugurated the 'legendary blood donation camp' at the NTR Trust Bhavan.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms.Brahmani said 185 blood donation camps had been organized across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for collecting 20,000 units of blood to mark the occasion. The Trust could collect 14,000 units of blood through 145 camps last year.
NTR's elder son Nandamuri Balakrishna (MLA and an Actor) has launched NTR Amar Jyoti rally at Rasoolpura to start the occasion. He visited Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research Centre and distributed fruits to the patients. He said NTR left an indelible mark on the film industry as well as the political scene. NTR was reputed across the globe for his untiring efforts to spread the message of Telugu self-respect and pride.
Telangana TDP working president A. Revanth Reddy urged the Central Government to give Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award of the country, on NTR for his contribution to the uplift of poor and needy sections.
At a time when neighboring people in Tamil Nadu are way ahead and strongly vouching for Bharat Ratna to late Jayalalithaa, why Telugu people are stepping back.
Except for twice in a year on birth and death anniversaries of NTR, none of the days, no one voices the demand for Bharat Ratna.
TDP is the part of NDA it is a ruling party in the central, it will be easy if Chandrababu pressure on Modi about this. Fans of NTR were disappointed.
Balakrishna said that TDP would bring pressure on the Central Government if need be to confer Bharat Ratna for TDP founder NTR.
