KTR blistering attack on opposition, slams Centre for the lack of support.

Hyderabad: TRS working president and MAUD Minister K T Rama Rao, continuing with his blistering attack against the BJP government at the Centre for its indifferent attitude towards the State, said on Tuesday that despite the lack of support from the Union government, Telangana had only emerged stronger and was one of the major contributors for the nation's growth and development.

"The Union government has not even sanctioned educational institutions promised to the State under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act in the last six years," the Minister said, addressing a meeting organised by Private Colleges and School Management and Staff Welfare Association here.



The TRS working president also slammed the opposition parties for levelling false allegations against the TRS government over filling vacant posts in government departments, and pointed out that recruitment had already been completed for 1.32 lakh government jobs. He stated that notifications for another 50,000 jobs will be released soon. "The Opposition parties are criticising the TRS government over government job recruitments. But I would like to remind them that only 24,000 government jobs were filled over 10 years during the Congress regime in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, with Telangana getting just 10,000 jobs during that period," he said.

Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised two crore jobs per year across the country, Rama Rao demanded of the BJP State leaders to show where these 12 crore jobs were created in the last six years of BJP rule. "It is time for the Opposition parties to stop baseless accusations as no government can provide government jobs to all the employed," he said, and ridiculed BJP State leaders's claims that the Centre was funding the State. "The BJP leaders should stop this 'giver-taker' business. They should remember that against Rs 2.72 lakh crore contributed by the State to the Centre in the form of taxes, the Union government had given only Rs 1.4 lakh crore to the State through devolution of taxes. We are proud Indians and are performing our duty by contributing to the nation's growth," he added.

Responding to opposition allegations that schools were shut down and teachers were left to fend for themselves, the Minister said the State government closed all the educational institutions for the safety of children and teachers from Covid-19 pandemic. "There are over 12 lakh private teaching and non-teaching staff and the State government cannot provide satisfactory assistance to all of them as the State's financial condition itself suffered adverse impact due to the pandemic, with revenue losses amounting to Rs 52,000 crore. The BJP and Congress, which have been criticising the TRS government for failing to support private school teachers, should first show us one State ruled by them which has supported private school teachers," he said.
