Kanakadurga flyover inauguration postponed..!

The Kanakadurga flyover in Vijayawada that was completed lately has postponed its inauguration the wake of the 5 mourning days announced by the Central government for ex-President Pranab Mukharjee's demise.

This flyover spanning the Krishna River and Prakasam Barrage in Vijayawada is the longest flyover in Andhra Pradesh with a length of 2.3 kilometers. The construction of the Kanakadurga Flyover was started on 22nd November 2015 and the road level bridge was completed by 2016 for Krishna Pushkaralu.

It was the TDP-BJP alliance that took the decision to take up this prestigious project to reduce the traffic between Vijayawada and Hyderabad on the existing 15-20 foot highway around the Durga temple. 80% of the project's construction was done during the TDP's term and Jagan Mohan Reddy's government completed its construction and did set the inauguration date for September 4 which is postponed under unfortunate circumstances.

Along with the Kanakadurga Project, a few more roads and bridges needed to be inaugurated and laid the foundation stones on Friday. Similarly, the flyover at Benz Circle is to be constructed at a cost of Rs 100 crore, two packages of Vijayawada bypass roads to be constructed at a cost of Rs 2700 crore and Machilipatnam road at a cost of Rs 740 crore are to be inaugurated.

The Flyover construction has already been completed at Benz Circle. Authorities have allowed vehicular traffic on the bridge since February. This is supposed to be a formal inauguration.
