Vaccine to be available in India by December

The Serum Institute of India struck a deal with both AstraZeneca and Novavax to manufacture and distribute their vaccines in India and other low-and-medium-income countries.

It was also recently announced that the price of each shot would cot less than Rs. 240, because of the heavy funding that SII was getting.

SII is being funded by the Gates and Melinda foundation, which is donating $150 million for this cause.

Speaking about the vaccines, Adarsh Poonawaalla, CEO of SII, said that the manufacturing of the vaccines would begin in the last week of August, and might reach the general public in early December. This is if the vaccines developed by AstraZeneca and Novavax are cleared by the WHO by then.
