Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner, Nimmagadda Ramesh who was suspended by the government of Andhra Pradesh a while back rejoined his duty today. He took charge at EC office in Vijayawada after the governor passed her rejoining orders.

Speaking with media after taking charge as the SEC, Nimmagadda Ramesh made a couple of interesting comments.

"The election commission is an independent organization. It does not have anything to do with the state government and its interests. I hope to carry out my duties in an impartial manner. I hope the government of Andhra Pradesh will support me in the process, much like the way it did in the past," he said.

For some reason, the YCP government has been strong opposing the reappointment of Nimmagadda Ramesh as the SEC of Andhra Pradesh.

It is known that the relationship between government of Andhra Pradesh and Nimmagadda took a beating after the latter postponed local body elections in March.
