Jagans big surprise to Grama Volunteers

It is already known that the government of Andhra Pradesh had initiated village volunteer system after YCP was voted to power. A total of over 2.5 lakh volunteers were roped in by the state government for this first-of-its-kind system in India.

Coming to the topic, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is set to deliver some good news to village volunteers in these testing times pertaining to Covid-19 outbreak.

Apparently, Jagan is planning to increase the salaries of Village volunteers from Rs 5000 to Rs 7500. The state government might well be passing an order in this regard.

It is said that the government of Andhra Pradesh is planning to hike the salaries from August itself. But if that is not possible, the salaries will be hiked from September.

At a time when state finances are in worst possible condition, Jagan's decision to financially support the hard-working village volunteer system is surprising many.

Notably, even national media appreciated Jagan's brainchild, village volunteer system as these volunteers were extensively used to track down and trace Covid-19 suspects.
