Sale of alcohol and tobacco strictly banned

India has entered its second phase of lockdown from today, the 15th of April. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended the lockdown yesterday till May 3rd, to curb the spread of the virus in the country.

Restrictions will be lifted in a few areas from April 20, wherein people can move about to buy daily essentials and for medical purposes. A few rural industries have also been permissions to work from April 20th, and self employed businesses have been given permission as well.

However, the sale of liquor and tobacco has strictly been banned by the Government of India. This has been put into place by the Disaster Management Act, 2005.

Liquor shops have already been closed in Telangana, and now there seem to be no chances of opening them until at least April 30th.
