AP municipal elections postponed

Citing the widespread Coronavirus as the reason, Andhra Pradesh election commission chief, Ramesh Kumar has announced that the municipal elections are postponed.

The MPTC and ZPTC elections were scheduled to be held on March 23rd and the results were to be out on 27th. However, the election commission has decided to postpone the election by six weeks.

The elections will be held only after the Coronavirus virus effect is nullified. It is necessary that we take the safety of the public into consideration. A total of 3 crores voters will poll their votes in the election and that can give rise to new complexities, given the Coronavirus scare, a statement from election commission read.

Meanwhile, Telugu Desam Party forces are claiming that YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is scared of facing the public's verdict and that is the reason why he tried his best to postpone the election.
