TRS missed Kavitha & so it lost in the battle: Report

The Bharatiya Janata Party emerging as the single largest party in the recent elections to the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation, and the TRS struggling to grab the post of Mayor with the support of the Majlis-e-Ittihadul Muslimeen (MIM), has been causing much worry to the TRS cadres, more particularly the cadres and leaders from Nizamabad.

They are worried that if the BJP becomes strong in Nizamabad, the TRS will face a tough situation in the district in the coming days.

TRS ministers and MLAs say privately that Ms K. Kavitha, former MP, staying away from the civic elections impacted the result, and there were mistakes in selection of candidates for divisions.

They are saying that the BJP has taken second place in Armoor, Metpally and Korutla municipalities Though Ms Kavitha was defeated in the Lok Sabha elections, if she had been in the poll campaign for the municipal elections, the results would have been different.

Had she been in the campaign and had highlighted the failure of the sitting BJP MP in setting up the Turmeric Board as he had promised, it would have impacted the results.

Out of 60 divisions in the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation, the TRS expected to win 30 divisions. But it got just 13 seats and went down to third place. If the MIM had not got 16 seats, the TRS would have lost the corporation.

TRS leaders recall that Ms Kavitha had played an active part in the 2018 elections, and ensured the victory of all seven MLAs in the seven segments in the Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency.
