NRC will affect all citizens

New Delhi: Student leader-turned-politician Kanhaiya Kumar has said Citizenship Act And NRC will not only affect Muslims, but all Indians.

Kumar said it will put every poor citizen at risk who does not have proper documentation. They will be sent to detention centres, he added.

The former student leader of Jawaharlal Nehru University said it is this very concern that has made students rise up in protest against the amended Citizenship Act.

His comments come at a time when students and opposition parties across the country are up in arms against the amended Citizenship Act, which aims to make it easier for non-Muslim migrants from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan to become Indian nationals.
