Rain wreaks havoc in Maharashtra, 22 killed in different accidents

Mumbai: The heavy monsoon rains in Maharashtra are raining as a disaster. In Maharashtra, 22 people have been reported killed in late night wall collapseincidents at various places while several others are reported to be injured. The accident occurred when the boundary wall collapsed. The state has been experiencing heavy rains for the past two to three days.

In Mumbai, 13 people were killed and 11 others injured when a wall collapsed late in the night in Kurar village area of Malad. The disaster management team of NDRF and BMC are engaged in relief work. In Pune, at while 6 people were killed and four others injured in a wall collapse at the Singhgarh Institute in Pune. All these deceased were labourers who lived in a slum on the side of the wall. Among the dead, 4 labourers are from Chhattisgarh and two are from Madhya Pradesh.


The third event is from Kalyan. In Kalyan, the school wall fell on two houses. Three people were killed in the incident while another was injured. The wall of the National Urdu School suddenly collapsed around 12.30 p.m. at the Durgadi campus of Kalyan. The wall fell on two houses adjacent to the school. Four people trapped under the rubble were evacuated with the help of locals, police and firemen. The deceased also include a three-year-old child.
