Happy Birthday Dale Steyn

Today, 27 June, one of South Africa's greatest fast bowlers of all times was born.

Dale Steyn was born on this day in 1983. He is said to be the cricketer with the best bowling strike rate of all time in Test Match cricket.

He started playing cricket at the age of 11, because of his love for sport and for being outdoors. He received a Hansie Cronjricket set as a Christmas gift.

Steyn made his debut for South Africa on 17 December, 2004, in the first Test of England's tour. He went on to achieve a tally of 78 wickets in the 2007/ 08 seasonand was subsequently rewarded with the prestigious ICC 2008 Test Cricketer of the Year Award.

He was also named one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 2013.

Steyn dominated the number one spot in the ICC Test rankings at the peak of his career, for a record 263 weeks between 2008 and 2014.

Last year, during the first Test against Pakistan, Steyn became the leading wicket-taker for South Africa in Test cricket, a record previously held by all-rounder and former captain, Shaun Pollock.

He is known as an aggressive out-and-out fast bowler, capable of bowling at speeds in excess of 150 km/h.
