Meet the First Woman Finance Minister

Narendra Modi led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) are back to power for the second time in a row and Modi along with his ministers took oath recently. Nirmala Sitharaman who was the Defence Minister in Modi's cabinet is now the Finance Minister of the country. Nirmala Sitharaman happens to be the first full-time woman Finance Minister of the country and this indeed is a proud moment for her.

The 59-year-old politician joined BJP a decade ago and played a crucial role.


Nirmala Sitharaman is overwhelmed with the position and she took a briefing from the senior officials about the challenges ahead. Slower global growth is the biggest challenge for Nirmala Sitharaman ahead. Nirmala Sitharaman will also be taking care of corporate affairs portfolio. BJP Chief Amit Shah took oath as the Home Minister and Rajnath Singh is the new Defence Minister of the country.
