Gayle Sensational Decision will Stun You

Chris Gayle, the bane of bowlers, is currently reconsidering his retirement plans. The swashbuckling cricketer had announced on February 17 that he would retire from One Day Internationals post the 2019 World Cup. However, his recent performances against England has caused him to re-evaluate his situation. Gayle made a comeback to the West Indies ODI team scoring 347 runs in a span of four matches. The fourth ODI against England saw him score 162 runs as he clobbered 14 sixes.

"I've been playing a lot of T20 cricket, so it's always going to be a difficult coming back into 50 over cricket. But eventually, the body gets accustomed to the 50-over format," Gayle was quoted as saying by icc-cricket.com.

The power hitter from Jamaica added that he’ll need to work on his body and ‘then maybe you can see a bit more Chris Gayle.’ "What's the matter with the body? I'm nearly 40. But could I un-retire? We'll see. We'll take it slowly," he added. Gayle recently became the first batsman in the world to smash 500 sixes in international cricket.

Gayle is now the 14th batsman in the world to score over 10,000 runs in ODIs. He is currently the second West Indian to reach that landmark, after the legendary Brian Lara. While Gayle did manage to score a blistering 162, his theatrics were not enough to see his team through as West Indies were bowled out for 389, losing the match by 29 runs.
