Hyderabad December 21 : A new survey says that, Hyderabad is the undisputed winner.The Most residents of the city are very dissatisfied, while receiving of unwanted gifts.

When it comes to unwanted gifts, Residents of the city are by far the most dissatisfied with the gifts they receive, A whopping 71% of households claimed to have received at least one unwanted gift in the past year, revealed the Gift Me Not survey conducted by online marketplace OLX in collaboration with Indian Market Research Bureau (IMRB).

The survey, which looked at 16 cities, was conducted as part of OLX's Consumer Research on Used Goods and Selling Trends (CRUST), an annual study that estimates the size of the used goods market in India.

Chandigarh stood second with 50%, and in third place was Mumbai with 38% of those surveyed not wanting the gifts they received. Chennai, was only 2% of those surveyed admitted to having received gifts they did not want, stood at the bottom, and was followed by Bhubaneswar and Pune.

The survey also found that one in four Indian homes receives gifts they had no use for in the past year. A little less than half of those surveyed admitted to 'hoarding' unwanted gifts, while a quarter re-gifted them.

Around 7% found means to sell their unused gifts while 5% gave them away to charity. A mere 1 per cent of the respondents admitted to having thrown the gift away.

"On the OLX website, the number of people mentioning that they are selling a product they were gifted has almost doubled since 2015," says Amarjit Singh Batra, CEO, OLX India.

"The average incidence rate of receiving an unwanted gift has also jumped from 16% in 2015 to 26% this year. This could be a result of a growing culture of thoughtless gifting."
