Hyderabad: The Leaders of Telangana Congress from several constituencies that fall under five Lok Sabha seats met on Sunday and discussed candidate selection, ahead of the elections to the State Legislative Assembly.
The meeting at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad was chaired by All India Congress Committee secretary Bose Raju and was attended by party leaders form the city, Secunderabad, Chevella, Malkajgiri and Medak constituencies. The candidates list to be announced soon.
The leaders discussed potential candidates for the Assembly segments that fall under the five Lok Sabha constituencies and the strategies to be adopted to ensure their victory in the upcoming polls.
Telangana is likely to go for polls along with three other states -- Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, after Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) recommended the dissolution of assembly on September 6.
The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Uttam Kumar Reddy, while describing the next elections as a "holy war" and said that the national party along with other like-minded parties will fight against "autocratic, arrogant and dictatorial rule" of KCR and his family members.
