Telangana: Governor approves dissolution of Assembly

Hyderabad: In the latest news, The Telangana Assembly is dissolved on Thursday as the state cabinet ratified Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's proposal to disband the assembly 9 months in advance eyeing to go for early elections. The cabinet meeting lasts for nearly 20 minutes.

The cabinet has taken up only the single agenda of dissolution of assembly in the meeting. The cabinet and TRS MLAs already authorized KCR the power to take a decision regarding going to early elections in the previous meeting.

KCR conducted the cabinet meeting at Pragati Bhavan for a brief time. The cabinet unanimously adopted a resolution in favor of the dissolution of the state assembly. After the cabinet meeting, KCR with his cabinet colleagues rushed to Raj Bhavan and submitted the letter to Governor ESL Narasimhan.

The Governor made the announcement after Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao submitted a cabinet resolution recommending the dissolution of the House.

The Governor said he had accepted Rao's resignation and told him to continue as the caretaker Chief Minister.
