Hyderabad: IAS Officer daughter caught in drunk and drive checks

Hyderabad, Aug 26: In a shocking news, Hyderabad police have conducted drunk and drive checks and registered 123 cases against violators for driving vehicles in an inebriated condition at Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills in the late night hours of Friday. The police seized as many as 62 cars and 64 two-Wheeler vehicles.

A young woman acted high-handed creating a ruckus at a drunk and drive test on Road no. 36 Jubilee Hills here on Friday night. She claimed to be the daughter of an IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre.

According to reports, the traffic police were conducting the mandatory drunk and drive tests when the incident happened. The young woman who was driving a car with the registration number TS 09 ET 2000, argued with police for two hours saying that she would not subject herself to the drunk and drive test because she was the daughter of an IAS officer. The vehicle's number plate read 'District Revenue Officer: Addl District Magistrate'.

The traffic police, however, raised a complaint with the Jubilee Hills police, who later confirmed that she was the daughter of an Andhra Pradesh cadre IAS officer. With the help of women police, the traffic police subjected her to the drunk and drive test, which showed a BAC count of 141. A case has been filed against the woman and the vehicle has been seized.

On Friday, the traffic police registered 123 cases against those who were involved in drunk driving at six different locations across the city.
