Telangana CM KCR meets PM Modi, discussed on New Zonal System

New Delhi, Aug 25: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the latter's residence in the 7 Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi on Saturday evening.

CM KCR took up pending issues pertaining to Telangana State and submitted separate representations on 14 different issues especially amendments to Article 371(D) for implementing the new zonal system in Telangana State.

During the meeting which lasted for about 30 minutes, the Chief Minister is learned to have discussed the importance of the zonal system and sought the Prime Minister's intervention for its creation.

He appealed to the Prime Minister for speedy clearance of the proposals. The issue of new zonal system was discussed during the previous meeting between the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister followed by another formal representation by TRS MPs to the Prime Minister during the recent Parliament session.

The Chief Minister also took up issues pertaining to implementation of provisions of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act including the division of the High Court.

Issues including reservations for SC/ST and minorities, financial assistance for Kaleshwaram projects, the release of pending funds for backward districts, funding for Regional Ring Road (RRR) and others, also were taken up with the Prime Minister.

The Chief Minister had flown down to New Delhi from Hyderabad on Friday evening. He is also scheduled to meet several Union Ministers and other officials to take up pending issues pertaining to the State.
