Minister KTR plans to set up WhatsApp customer service center

Hyderabad, Aug 24: In the latest development, The CEO of communication giant messaging app WhatsApp, Chris Daniels and the Head of the Public Policy Division of Facebook India, Shivnath Thukral on Thursday met Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao in Hyderabad.

During the meeting, KTR pitched the idea of setting up a customer service operations center of WhatsApp in Hyderabad to which Chris Daniels responded positively.

The WhatsApp CEO is currently on a short trip to India to deal with the fake messages and rumours circulating on WhatsApp which resulted in multiple instances of mobs lynching people on the suspicion of them being members of child trafficking gangs.

WhatsApp is all set to launch a massive public awareness campaign in India to educate the users on the do's and don'ts of its messaging service and how to avoid any such untoward incidents in future.

KT Rama Rao on Thursday said that about 700 new investment proposals, including 100 R and D units, have been approved during the last four years.

These entail a cumulative investment of over Rs 10,200 crores, Mr Rao said during the discussions with Novartis Chief Executive Officer Narasimhan who called on him, held on the life sciences ions ecosystem in the State and the vision of the State Government for the sector.

The Minister also stated that during the last four years, the Life Sciences product exports in the state grew at 2.41 times, as compared to the national average of 1.18 times.The Minister handed over a docket to Mr. Narasimhan explaining the marquee initiatives taken by the State Government.
