New Delhi, Aug 22: Xiaomi is one of the most respected smartphone brands in India,Earlier today, the Chinese phone maker launched a new sub-brand called Pocophone, which in turn revealed its new F1 smartphone.
The new smartphone series is expected to diversify the Xiaomi portfolio and offer phones with even better value-for-money.
The Pocophone F1, which will be called Poco F1 in India, has the flagship Snapdragon 845 chipset and starting at INR20,999 ($300) it's by far the cheapest smartphone to do so.
The Poco F1 is packed with a substantial 4,000mAh battery. It’s got a 6.18-inch 1080p display with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. There’s also a Qualcomm Adreno 630 GPU, a 20-megapixel selfie cam, and dual rear 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel cameras. The F1 will offer all of those features and specs for just $300 when it arrives in India next week.
The Snapdragon 845 has an octa-core CPU running at 2.8 GHz, an Adreno 630 GPU, and h either 6 GB RAM or 8 GB RAM. The three storage options are 64GB, 128GB and 256 GB.
Xiaomi Pocophone F1 boots MIUI 9.6 based on Android Oreo, but it is actually a modified version. Called MIUI for Poco and packing a new Poco theme, it actually looks and behaves very similarly to the Nova Launcher. It should receive MIUI 10 shortly with Android Pie to follow within the next three months.
The battery of the F1 surely is impressive - 4,000 mAh capacity with 18W Quick Charge 3.0 capabilities with a QC3 charger in the retail box.
