Krishna: 24 famers bitten by Snakes, CM Naidu assures Help

Krishna, Aug 20: As many as 24 farmers and farm laborers have been bitten by snakes during the last 24 hours in Avanigadda division of Krishna district.

Official sources said that all the snake pits and habitations were marooned in rain water forcing a large number of poisons reptiles to come out from their habitations. When the farmers and farm laborers were returning to their homes last night from the fields, 19 of them were bitten by snakes while three farmers were bitten during early hours on Sunday in Koduru, Avanigadda and Nagayalanka mandals.

In the wake of increasing cases of snake bites in the flood-hit villages, Chandrababu directed officials to create awareness on snake threat and also provide better treatment to the victims of Avanigadda.

All the snake victims were admitted to Government Area Hospital in Avanigadda. Later six of them were shifted to a private hospital here for better treatment. All the victims were provided required anti-venom treatment and were almost out of danger, hospital doctors said.

People are in the grip of fear of snakes at several villages, farmers said. Since all bushes, snake pits and other habitations were marooned in rainwater, the snakes entered nearby fields and villages, farmers added.
