Telangana to witness heavy rains in next 5 days

Hyderabad, Aug 17: Telangana is expected to receive light to moderate rainfall in the coming week, said Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, on Thursday.

Light rain lashed several parts of the city on Thursday as well and the city received a total rainfall of 4.3mm. According to IMD officials, rain and thundershowers are very likely to hit several parts of the city on Friday as well.

Meanwhile, the weekly forecast issued by IMD's Hyderabad division shows that the city is expected to witness light rain or drizzle between August 18 and August 20. On August 21 and 22, the city has been predicted to receive rain or thundershowers. Also, there will be no major changes in temperature over the next one week, said officials.

In the wake of heavy rains that may occur in the next few days, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao directed the officials concerned to be alert and remain vigilant. He asked them to monitor the flood situation in the Districts for which they are in charge, and take up wherever necessary relief and rehabilitation works in close coordination with local officers and police personnel.
