World Elephant Day: Bollywood Actress launches Wild Anthem

Mumbai, Aug 12: Bollywood gorgeous Actress-producer Dia Mirza, also an activist for the clean and green environment, on Sunday unveiled a 'wild anthem' titled "Mere desh ki zameen" here on the occasion of World Elephant Day.

Singers Shreya Ghoshal, Sunidhi Chauhan, Benny Dayal, Vishal Dadlani and Clinton Cerejo have lent their voices for the song.

"This was my dream. To give India a 'wild anthem', a song that would be a celebration of all that is most incredible about our home, our land," Dia, a UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador, said in a statement.

Prasoon Joshi has penned the lyrics of the song that celebrates India's biodiversity by showcasing visuals of animals in the video of the track.

"The first time I saw an elephant was on the streets of Hyderabad. I was very young and was just so enamored by that sight. It was so unusual to see an elephant in an urban place,"recalls Dia, who is participating in the ongoing festival Gaj Mahotsav, in Delhi.

Dia Mirza, who is the brand ambassador of Wildlife Trust of India, remembers how as a child she became sorrowful on seeing an elephant in the zoo.

The actor admits that animals need to be free, too. "The World Elephant Day, which is August 12, and the symbolism of how close it is to Independence Day makes it all the more meaningful to all of us in conversation because we all hope to achieve a world where animals and human beings, wildlife and human development can co-exist without causing destruction. And the fact of the matter is that our whole well-being and productivity is connected to nature and the environment. "

Shreya has urged people to protect the wildlife.

She said: "We are so blessed to be born in a country which has the most beautiful and magical wildlife in the entire world. The variety is simply incredible. They truly are wonders of nature and we must do everything in our capacity to protect them from any harm."

Clinton has sung and also composed "Mere desh ki zameen", a collaborative project between Dia, Sahil Sangha and Wildlife Trust of India. It is out now across all digital services on UMG.
